These artworks are by Lex Balaguer. He is an artist of sorts — his forte is photo-manipulation. In fact, he is currently the art director of Heights (Ateneo de Manila’s official literary and art publication). Also the first photo (Caput Mortuum) is part of Heights current issue (LXI Vol. I). I got to know Lex through my roommate, Mo — who is also part of Heights. Interestingly enough,they needed a model/subject for their work and I happen to be there. Mo did most of the photography and Lex did the art directing (You should have been there, Lex is so cute when he directs, he is so passionate and energetic!). The shoot took place inside our room. I was just against a blank wall, almost gray, dreary. To think that Lex transformed those photos into something so out-of-this-world. He took me to places. Incredible. I hope I did a good job. I had a stye/kuliti during the shoot so I really happy that my face was covered. I had make-up in though, just under the eyes since my stye was at the lid of my left eye. Mo did the all the styling and make-up. Can you believe the gown I’m wearing is actually a skirt with a belt? Well that’s Mo for you. She’s did a wonderful job. It was fun to work with both of them. THey are incredibly telented people. Credits to all the both of them. I only did a tiny bit of the work but I’m glad I was part of it.
